Release Notes

October 2018

We hope that you had a great start to the new academic year. Over the summer months, we’ve been working to understand how we can continue to support you and your institution's desire to make data-informed decisions. We’ve collected feedback from many institutions and have learned a lot about how we can help support your data analytics and visualization needs.  Using this information, we’ve added some new enhancements that we are excited to share with you.

1. Dashboard Library

We've introduced a dashboard library that allows you to view different ways to leverage your connected data ecosystem that will help you to continue to visualize the impact of your work on campus and help empower change. Our data team has built examples of types of dashboard uses that can make assessment and data not just summative but also formative to guide day to day practices. We will continue to add more examples for you to take advantage of so check back often.

2. Enhanced dashboard landing page

We made it easier to view and create dashboards with others on campus by redesigning the dashboard landing page to include the following:

  • Enhanced ability to see what dashboards have been shared with you, created by you, and that are in the dashboard library
  • New ability to search dashboard titles so you can quickly find the information you are looking for
  • Dashboards included in the library will have a description and be categorized by subject area so you know the purpose of each dashboard and can filter to the topic of interest

3. Toggle on/off all slicers

Since we introduced slicers to the dashboards, we have been amazed how you have used this tool to focus in on specific populations or time periods. View a quick video on how campuses are using slicers. We have also heard your feedback that you wanted the ability to toggle all slicers on or off, so we added that capability.

New Features in Preview

Now, some very exciting updates to the types of data you can consume within the tool to continue to help you be data empowered. These features are in preview—which is our way of introducing new abilities into Insight so that we can, based on your usage, refine them, and for you to be part of enhancing your data platform.

4. Baseline Surveys (in Preview)

We are very excited to announce that surveys administered using Baseline are now available to be connected to Insight. Institutions who link their Baseline survey projects with data from Insight are able to explore how admitted students are transitioning into the institution and gain valuable approaches to shaping the student journey.  If you want to learn how you can take advantage of this preview feature, please contact your Campus Labs consultant.

5. Custom Data Resources (in Preview)

Since we introduced Insight and began to unlock the connected data ecosystem for institutions, one desire that we heard you talk about is the ability to extend your ecosystem beyond what you capture through Campus Labs. Custom data resources enable you to leverage Campus Labs like never before.

In our initial work with a few campuses, they have connected data such as the Praxis exam and other student success/satisfaction assessments to help them deepen their understanding of the continuous student journey in programs such as education.

If you would like to learn more about how to take advantage of this preview feature, please contact your Campus Labs consultant.

We are already hard at work on the next set of enhancements, but if you would like to help contribute your ideas, or want to be more involved in the advancement of your data analysis and visualization tools, share your thoughts with us!
